Book Roundup: To Empower Your Journey

Since the beginning of this year, I’ve been listening to a variety of books on the Libby app using my library card. Some books I've enjoyed so much, I ordered a hard copy so I could highlight it and take notes. Each book has offered practical and valuable insights and I wanted to share them with you. Below, you’ll find brief descriptions of these books—see if any catch your interest!

"Set Boundaries, Find Peace: A Guide to Reclaiming Yourself" by Nedra Glover Tawwab is a practical guidebook exploring the importance of healthy boundaries in relationships. Drawing from her experience as a therapist, Tawwab provides strategies and real-life examples to help readers implement boundaries effectively, emphasizing self-care and communication skills.

I’ve also read three books by Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD – “Disentangling from Emotionally Immature People”, “Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents”, and “Self-Care for Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents”. Each offers unique insights into managing relationships with emotionally immature individuals.

"Disentangling from Emotionally Immature People" focuses on navigating relationships with emotionally immature individuals, offering strategies for recognizing emotional immaturity and managing expectations.

"Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" explores the impact of emotionally immature parenting on adult children's relationships and self-esteem, providing practical guidance on setting boundaries and fostering personal growth.

"Self-Care for Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" empowers individuals raised by emotionally immature parents to prioritize their well-being, offering strategies for healing and creating healthier relationships.

"The New Codependency" by Melody Beattie is a compassionate guide for navigating codependency in today's world, offering practical steps for boosting self-awareness, setting boundaries, and building healthier connections.

"Adult Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers" by Stephanie M. Kriesberg, PsyD, delves into the challenges faced by women with narcissistic mothers, providing insights and strategies for healing and setting boundaries. Don't let this title fool you, the suggestions in this book apply to all narcissistic relationships.

"Say the Thing" by Kami Orange is a practical handbook empowering readers to communicate assertively and set boundaries effectively using scripts and phrases designed for various situations.

I hope these book recommendations inspire you to explore new insights and strategies for personal growth and healthier relationships. Whether you're navigating boundaries, healing from past wounds, or enhancing your communication skills, each of these books offers tools to empower you on your journey. Happy reading and here's to our continued growth and well-being!
